After a corporate career in technical writing, knowledge management and strategy, I had returned to university and was completing a law degree in 2014 when my younger brother suddenly and tragically passed away. As part of processing his loss, I decided I wished to start living a meaningful life right away, as opposed to preparing for a retirement that might not come. I also wanted to understand what had happened to my brother medically and emotionally, and also work on my own health issues, which were becoming more pressing.
That began with a move interstate, then two yoga teacher trainings in 2017 and 2018 that awakened a passion for human anatomy and physiology in me that I hadn’t previously explored. I then left the corporate world and start teaching yoga and meditation, and decided to study myotherapy, which I’d benefited from when being treated in the past. I completed a Bachelor of Health Science (Myotherapy) at Endeavour College in 2023, and have also completed a Diploma of Remedial Massage (2023), and a Clinical Pilates teaching certification in 2024.
I began working as a myotherapist under supervision in 2022, then worked in corporate massage and aged care massage in 2022-23 and have been working in clinical practice since early 2023. I am currently studying a Certificate IV in Training and Education with the aim of sharing my knowledge and passion for bodywork with the next generation of students, while continuing to practice myself.
I have a particular interest in chronic nerve pain and conditions associated with joint hypermobility and neurodivergence, associated with my lived experience of these conditions.
